Shattered (Vitani, Mooch and Scamp centric)

Reuben continued running down the tunnel towards the voices. He took a side tunnel and came up directly behind the hyenas on a ledge where they couldn't see him. "Crud!" he silently cursed. Tani was in trouble and he could help but they were outnumbered two to one. Just then the hyenas split up and left. Thats right... a bit closer...now! and he grabbed the hyena dumb enough to back up to the wall below. He bashed him on the head, quickly knocking the brainless creature out. Now the odds are fairer. He leaped down from his ledge and jumped on the unsuspecting hyena mother. "Leave her alone!" he yelled.

Vitani growled, she was surrrounded by stupid slobbery mangy poachers. She would need to think fast if she was going to get out of this on alive.

"Do you know who you're talkin' to?" She growled "I'm Scar's daughter! You harm me and my father will have you killed. Now you wouldn't want that would you?"

It was a long shot but if these hyenas were Scar's then she might be able to trick them. If not, there was no chance.

Maybe there was some truth in 'Tani's tale of a curse after all Scamp mused. He was thoroughly lost. He was now certain that, in his hurried attempt to pursue 'Tani, he'd taken a wrong turn pretty much straight away, although now he couldn't even find his way back to the cavern with the crystals. The one he held still glowed as brightly as ever, but that wasn't much help to him in this maze.
Then came the laughter. Scamp's fur prickled. So Reuben was right after all. Just great. He slipped the crystal shard back beneath his collar, and imediately the cavern was plunged into darkness. Now he couldn't see, but the hyenas - he hoped - wouldn't be able to, either. That should give him at least some advantage. With their incessant cackling, he could hear them a mile away, so avoiding them shouldn't be too much of a difficult task - as long as he kept quiet.
He took a step forward, and his paws splashed in water. Water? Now he knew he was lost. He hadn't encountered any water previously down here. Cautiously, he made his way forwards. The water - thankfully - wasn't deep, but he still had to be alert. The slightest sound might alert the hyenas to his precense. He hoped 'Tani and Mooch were both okay.

Vitani stood her ground, she dared not let the hyenas know about Mooch and Scamp's presence. She didn't want her friends to suffer for her idiocy. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if anything happened to them.

Then she faintly heard something...a splash of water. That either meant more hyenas or...Mooch and Scamp were close by. She didn't know whether to feel joy at the thought that they were coming to save her or fear that the hyenas might kill them.

The tunnel slope upwards slightly, taking Scamp out of the water, but by now, he was thoroughly lost. If he had a better sense of direction, he might have realised that he'd come around in a near full circle, avoiding the crystal cave altogether, and was coming back towards it in the direction 'Tani had run off in. Lost as he was, though, Scamp had no way of knowing this.
He paused and sniffed the air. He thought he caught the scent of... Yes! It was! "'Tani!" he exclaimed aloud before catching himself. With the hyenas around, making his precense known wasn't a good idea. Still, he broke into a run as he headed in the direction 'Tani's scent had been coming from. I'm coming, 'Tani he promised silently. I'm coming.

Reuben heard a splash of water in the distance. That doesn't sound like a hyena...Maybee its one of the pups
Again he said to the hyena leader "I said back off of her!"

"Ah, there's my lunch," the male said with a grin. He snapped at Reuben. The female laughed at Vitani's words.

"Gal," she said with a laugh, "You don't think I know who you are?" She snapped at Vitani's legs, just as a warning. "Oh, Chil'," she said, "You in trouble. We listen to Sca' but honey...I can just tell Sca' we found you dead already an' didn't recognize ya." The female started closing in. The male closed into Reuben as well, his black tail swishing back and forth as he growled, trying to grab the little experiment in his jaws.

(ooc: this will be deleted as soon as the hyenas see, um Reuben is attacking the lead hyena where are you guys coming from?)

Vitani was terrified now. These hyenas were beyond reasoning and her position wasn't working, even threat from Scar wouldn't stop them. That meant only one thing. She would have to fight.

"Reuben...I want you to get the others and run." Vitani said lowering herself into a crouch with a feral growl. If she went down at least the others would be safe. She would distract the hyenas and Reuben could get away, find Mooch and Scamp, and get out of the cave.

Then Vitani lunged at the nearest hyena swiping at her muzzle with her clawed paw.

"Never! The pups can find their way out I think your friends are safe for now maybe close by" Reuben retorted punching a hyena. "I haven't been your friend all this time to lose you to a pack of idiots. I have fought cousin of mine worse than these dummies."

Scamp took the situation in at a glance. In all honesty, he didn't care about the yellow creature, but 'Tani was in trouble. Not letting his lack of fighting experience stop him - especially not after he'd caused her to get into this mess in the first place - he charged, biting down hard on the leader's tail the same way he had to Reggie back during the fight in the pound.
"'Tani, are you alright?" he managed to ask around a mouthful of tail fur.

The leader shook violently when Scamp bit down almost throwing Reuben off. "Ah, quit moving so I can take you out" he said to the leader. "See Tani? I told ya he was close."

Vtani had managed to switch target from the leader to another hyena. By her count there were three...maybe four. She pouced on the hyena closest to the leader and dug her claws into it's flanks.

"'Tani are you alright?"

Vitani's heart skipped a beat. Scamp was here? Oh no...she knew that he had little fighting experience. If he tried to fight these hyenas then there was a good chance he'd be killed.

"I'm fine. You have to get out of here Scamp! Get Mooch and Reuben and go!"

Scamp kept his grip on the hyena's tail.
"I'm not leaving you." he retorted, although it came out muffled. He let go of the hyena, ducking under its legs and tripping it - more by accident that intention - and coming up next to 'Tani. "This is my fault, and I'm not going to let you get killed because of it." He snapped at a hyena who was coming too close.

Finally getting thrown off Reuben made his way to Tani. "And I'm not going to leave, you are one of my closest friends."
