You can certainly use canon background characters if you'd like (in fact, there somewhat sparse personality traits might lend itself to excellent RP chances), but me and Stitch agree there are enough canon characters to go around that we don't need to dip into outside creative sources.

Hi! *waves to Scar* Your right, but I am always making up characters too, not daughter's or anything, but just another character that was in the story, I have really weird dreams, and thats where I get most of my inspiration to draw, I like making up new characters, its fun to create their personality, most of their personalities are based on my own x3

i am like that too! just sometimes my mind goes a little like "wha, but i might do that later on. i think disney needs more witches. maybe i will have a weird dream tonight!"

Lol! XD And, I am suspecting, cannon means a character created from a story, or another book, and your just using that character as your own, Tiana is a cannon from Disney, but this is just guessing, I don't actually know x3

A canon character means a character that is from the original source material or another official source. I'll use Lion King to explain:

Simba is canon because he was in The Lion King, the original source material.

Kovu is canon because he was in The Lion King 2, a supplement to the original material put out by an official source (Disney) meant to be considered part of the official Lion King story.

Timon's Mother is canon because she was in The Lion King 1 1/2, a supplement to the original source material (silly though it may be) put out by an official source (Disney) meant to be considered part of the official Lion King story (for the most part).

A girlfriend for Zazu (as an example) would not be canon because in neither of the three movies that are part of The Lion King story did such a character appear.
