(Training thread. Takes place July 25th. Open to all human heroes).
"Today, we're going to practice sparing." Phoebus informed the soldiers present. "While most of you are competent fighters, there's always room for improvement. We have to be better than our enemies in order to win this war. And not all enemies are the same. So, in order to make this a little more challenging, you're going to switch opponents with another group every ten minutes." Phoebus paused, allowing this all to sink in before continuing.
"Later on, we're going to jog around camp ten times. And when I say 'jog' I do not mean sprinting. Remember to keep a slow, steady pace. There will be times when you'll have to sprint in order to escape the enemy when the odds are against you. But that's a lesson for another day. For now, team up in groups of two and practice sparing. Remember not to injure your opponent, this is practice. You may begin."
Phoebus crossed his arms and watched the soldiers assemble.

Abigail was happy to oblidge. This human was superior to the others she had met, Arthur and the other children. Her ears flicked upward as she listened to everything the man, this Pheobus, was saying. She smiled softly and scrambled towards the training ground, trying to find a sparring partner. Femme hated getting up early but to train she had no problem. (Short post sucks, sorry )

"Hello there Genral Phoebus sir" Silver greets walking up to the duo "Abigail luv" he nods his head to the feline a smile on his face. "well Phoebus sir i'm ready and awating orders" he adjusts his hat pulling it upwards out of his eyes so that the genral can see his face. Silver switched to his mechical hand for he had been useing his crutch while walking to the group.

Hercules really didn't have any reason to offer up a complaint at anything Phoebus had said. The redhead knew he was out of practice, especially after being missing for so long, and he probably could use all the extra training he could get in. The problem would be finding someone that would actually be willing to spar with him. Awkwardly, he brought one hand to the back of his neck and began to rub it up and down as he glanced around the training ground in search of someone to spar with. So far it was just him, Phoebus, and Abigail present. He was hoping that would change fairly soon, though.
A second child, Arthur, also happened to be present. The scrawny boy had seen action in battle before, but even he knew he needed to improve. Badly. He'd been subjected to getting his butt kicked a couple of times before. Arthur saw no reason why he couldn't improve his skills in training. His problem was similar to Herc's, though, in that he had no one to really try sparing against. Well... there was Abigail, but he didn't even know if she would want to spar with him.

Mirage, who was far from experienced as a soldier, stood still for a few moments, feeling very much like an awkward school girl who hadn't understood what the teacher had asked her to do. Shaking herself out of it, she slowly approached the blonde haired commander, whose name she didn't know, and stood formally as she addressed him.
"Excuse me..I'm a new recruit to the Hero army, so I'm afraid I don't really have any sort of experience in fighting," she said, then looked round at the other soldiers that were there. "If I may ask...could you point me in the right direction for a novice, Mr...?" She trailed off, requesting the man's name.

Wilbur stood in the back behind Mirage. He was kind of excited to get to training. Ling was great as mentor but now he going to be training with other kids his own age, not to mention maybe learn some new moves to disarm his opponent's with.
--- Eilonwy walked next to Arthur with a smile, she had gained a little more confidence since her training with Silver and now was ready for even more. "Are you ready for training Arthur? Isn't this exciting?" she asked, the princess felt like a little child waiting to open presents on Christmas. She couldn't wait to get started.

"I... I guess so." Arthur replied. He didn't really know quite how he felt about engaging in training again. It had been a while since he'd really practiced with anyone, and so he wasn't entirely certain of whether or not his skills had improved any since the last time he'd sparred with anyone. If anything, the boy was just a touch more nervous than he would have been otherwise. "I... I may be kind of rusty, though. It's been a while since I really had the chance to train with anyone." Arthur said. He hoped he was just saying that and wasn't really all that rusty. Not because he wanted to impress anybody, but mainly because he wanted to know for certain if he had gotten any better as a result of becoming involved in a few battles and earning himself a few scars to show for it.
"If you don't have anyone else to train with, maybe we could train together?" he suggested. He didn't exactly know if Eilonwy would be interested in training with him, but it couldn't hurt to ask. The worst that could happen was being rejected, and he felt like he could handle a little rejection.

Jealousy moved through her veins as the blonde femme walked up and started to talk to Arthur, her first friend in the camp. Ears flicked back and her eyes narrowed. She blinked softly, rubbing her arm nervously. She lowered her head before sitting head up again and sneering. She walked towards the blonde and Arthur.
"I was...I mean if you guys don't mind...perhaps we could...oh...all train together?" She bit her lips and blinked, staring up with jealousy burning at the human blonde.

Eilonwy blinked at the small alien cat. Was she jealous of Arthur and her? Surely not, how old was this little one. Six? Eight? Too young to be getting jealous. "I don't see why not, what do you say Arthur? Shall we all train together?" her blue eyes not leaving the small alien.

Arthur, being the boy that he was, wasn't expecting Abigail and Eilonwy to be keen on training with him. Poor young boy had thought it would be him struggling to find people to train with while Hercules had people lining up to train with him. It appeared to be the other way around, though. Arthur wasn't complaining, though. He was glad to have a pair of friends who wanted to train with him. "Of course you can, Abigail! I don't mind training with both of you." Arthur said. Really, he thought it would be a good experience for him. Arthur thought it would help him be more prepared for fighting multiple enemies at the same time.
"But how are we going to do this? There's three of us." he said after a moment. How were three people supposed to train together? Was he meant to try and defend himself from both of them, or were they supposed to defend themselves against him?

Abby snorted. She didn't like the blonde already. Maybe it was that she didn't like the way she was looking at Arthur, maybe she was jealous she was human. She wasn't sure but all she was certain was she wasn't a fan. "Perhaps you could defend yourselves against me? It might be good for you guys to know how to fight aliens. Plus I have claws like an Animal villain and I stand on two feet like a human villain. Its a win-win." She grinned at the girl. "Unless you're scared."
--------------------
Shang walked onto the training grounds. He'd been MIA for a while; what he was doing was unknown and he wasn't going to disclose any information about where he'd been. Shang approached Pheobus and smiled; the blonde had taken a good job of taking care of the human troops while he was gone. He held out his hand to shake Pheobus'.
"Starting a training session without me?" He said, frowning softly, "Not good points, Captain or General now." He turned to the troops and placed his hands on his hips. "Hrm," the grumpy young man snorted, "What have we here?"

Eilonwy's blue eyes narrowed at the cat alien. "Please, i am not scared of anything. I think i can take you on anytime anywhere." she replied crossing her arms over her chest before her eyes glanced at the general. She wasn't about to start a fight with the alien girl if it meant getting into trouble by Shang.
--- Wilbur had seen plenty of people with strong personalities. He even knew Pheobus, or at least knew a little about him. But Shang seemed to be the head guy around here, Wilbur was easily impressed. 'Whoa, he's so cool...'

Post by Jane Porter on Apr 16, 2012 22:17:56 GMT -5
Jane came up, dressed in her dark mahogany skirt/wrap and a white top. She was ready to train. She laughed to herself, imagining going to training in her fancy yellow dress. She'd be a laughing stock, it was hard enough to move in that thing let alone fight. Nobody seemed to be in her weight or skill range so far as she could see, they were all either intimidating-looking men or young children and teens. she couldn't imagine going up against either one of them, and god forbid she ever had to hurt a child. However, she quickly spotted Mirage, slender petite thing like herself. She heard her question and figured they'd be perfect partners, until they were forced to switch anyways.
"Oh, I couldn't help but overhear, I'm bit of a beginner myself. Perhaps we could train together?" She asked the platinum haired woman. "I'm sure you're about as much of a fighter as I am." She said jokingly. Jane was agile for the most part, but a fighter she was not. Which meant this should be interesting.

Mirage felt a little better about this whole training thing when she saw Jane. Smiling at her new found friend, and reassured by the fact that she knew about as much about fighting as she herself did. She stepped away from the blonde commander, intending to get his name later, and found a good space of ground in which herself and Jane could train.
"So...training..." she said, once again feeling awkward. She ran a hand through her platinum hair and bit her lip as she thought. She didn't really know anything about combat. Syndrome had taught her how to use a handgun when she had worked for him, but for one thing, she couldn't use a handgun right now, and for another, she'd prefer not to use one anyway, because of who taught her to use them.

Post by Gwen the... Squirrel? on Apr 17, 2012 14:10:34 GMT -5
"I can help! I can help!" Apparently a certain bushy-tailed rodent had missed the memo regarding the 'humans only' training session -though it was more likely that she had simply ignored such a rule. She was a human's forever mate, destined to remain at his side forever no matter the boundary of species! Besides, it wasn't as if she would be a squirrel forever. The female firmly believed that somewhere in the strange, strange camp she'd find a human able to transform her into what she desired. So training with the humans was a good thing for her, like preparatory lessons!
A furry red blur, Squirrel raced through a forest of legs until orange-clad sticks came into view, which she clambered up really. Tiny claws hooked into the fabric of Arthur's tunic for purchase, pulling herself up to sit neatly on his shoulder.
