Mulan had been about to answer the lion - even she, who had attacked a giant dragon and lived to tell the tale, thought that dealing with the rampaging elpahant might be a little beyond their capabilities - when he appeared to come under attack by, of all things, a trio of deer. She had heard tell of the late Great Prince's skills in a fight, but these deer seemed rather less experienced, and Tanglemane appeared to have the situation easily in hand. Leaving him to it, the raven-haired woman turned, alert for any more unexpected attacks. Seeing none, Mulan scanned her troops briefly.
And saw one of them who clearly did not have his situation in hand. The boy she had noticed earlier was being charged by a brute of a gorilla that seemed to be hurling stones at him. Mulan grit her teeth. Maybe the youth could handle himself against the larger foe, but from the looks of him she had her doubts. Sheathing her sword, Mulan sprinted to intercept the pair of unevenly matched opponents. Drawing her blade again as she reached them, Mulan interposed herself between the ape and his would-be victim.
"Did you need some help?" she asked Wilbur over her shoulder, never taking her eyes off the gorilla

Dammit, Chinook, where'd you wander off to? Fear rumbled in the pit of Calusa's stomach. Being away from her younger brother made her anxious enough, as he couldn't hardly defend himself from a fly, let alone the world, but the prospect of her brother wandering around alone while a battle was scheduled to take place was enough to drive the brown-furred doe to the brink of insanity. Her brother had trouble getting over fallen logs back in the forest. He could hardly keep up when the bucks ran. Her baby brother wouldn't survive two minutes in a battle of life and death. The mere thought of her brother, coming face-to-face with a fierce creature like a lion or wolf, made her feel queasy.
But Chinook wasn't stupid. He was nervous and admittedly weak, but he wasn't an idiot. There was no way that he would be so stupid as to wander onto a battlefield. It was just that the chocolate-eyed female couldn't shake the fear that he had somehow wound himself up in the madness.
Calusa had looked as to what felt like everywhere. And he was nowhere to be found. Just one place left to check, the grasslands. The grazing was actually quite nice there, as her brother and herself had gone many times to relax. Knowing that only made her feel worse, though. Despite the grasslands being fairly large, battles could be equally as large, and it was terribly easy to get caught up in on.
Picking up her pace, Calusa dropped into a gallop as she quickly approached the battlefeild. As long as he wasn't there, she'd be fine. Her doubt and fear would be erased the minute she saw that her brother was no-where to be found, there. The second that her brother was definitely not there she could-
Chinook!
Breath catching in her throat, she froze, brown orbs growing wide. Oh Great Prince. This was bad. Really bad.
"Chinook!" The frantic female called out, moving as quickly as possible towards the male. The sight of Karus and Tuk, while not unnoticed, didn't phase her as she raced towards her brother. His safety was the top priority to her. "What in the world are you-" Calusa began to scold, nearing her brother, the sight of a lion lunging for Karus clouding her vision. "Karus, look out!" She called, her body quickly tensing.
This was a lot worse than she had expected.

"Did you need some help?" she asked Wilbur over her shoulder, never taking her eyes off the gorilla Wilbur had barely dodged the first rock. He was not expecting that, but then again, this was fighting with talking animals. Everything was a surprise. He turned his eyes to Mulan, thankful for the aide. "Well, i thought for a moment I could handle it but I don't think this is an opponent I can handle on my own." Wilbur returned his gaze to the gorilla. Wondering how he should approach this. He had to avoid getting hit by the giant rocks

"CHINOOK!"
Karus' blood boiled. His beloved's throat was torn in two. "No, please," he gasped. "No, no, no, no, no, no." The second Chinook hit the ground, Karus threw back his head and bleated as loud as he could. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" This can't be happening! Chinook can't die! He leave now! Karus was so consumed by his grief that he failed to notice his mourning was premature; Chinook will live.
"You!" Karus suddenly flung himself at Tanglemane and drove his antlers into the old lion's side. "I'M. GOING. TO. KILL. YOU," he declared through clenched teeth. Karus was going to avenge Chinook or die trying. Nothing else mattered.
Tanglemane's claws missed Karus' throat and chest, but struck him right between the eyes. "ARGH!" Karus stumbled to the side, tossing his bloodied head to and fro. Because of the blood in his eyes, Karus couldn't see his opponent. "You-!" he snarled. "This isn't over!" He lowered his head and charged in the opposite direction.

Tanglemane snarled in satisfaction as is claws marked the whimpering buck's throat. He knew he hadn't struck a fatal blow, but the pathetic creature would be out of the fight if he had any sense. The old lion's attention was diverted when the bold buck bellowed in fury, and he winced a bit when Karus's antlers scored his side, drawing blood. But so had Tanglemane. His claws had connected, and apparently blinded the creature. As the deer bolted away, he aimed a swipe at its hindquarters, hoping to hamstring it.
Whether he missed or not, the deer would be out of the fight for a moment. He turned to face the other new arrival, another buck who was apparently guarding the mewling weakling. Ignoring the wounds in his side, he lunged straight for Tuk, trying to seize the buck's shoulders with his claws while his fangs sought the throat.

With his sister and friend now at his side, Chinook felt slightly better. Slightly. For watching Karus lose his mind over his apparent demise sent the deer spiraling downwards, tears pouring down his golden fur. "Calusa, why is he running away? Why...doesn't he wanna check and see if I'm okay?" Chinook's ears pinned back, looking downward at the blood. The wound stung but didn't hurt as if he was dying. He didn't feel lightheaded; a good thing, he remembered his brother telling him. If you feel lightheaded, then you worry. You're losing a lot of blood then. Chinook shook his body and looked up at his sister with a pathetic smile. He was happy she was there for him.
Before turning to face Tuk, Chinook eyed the old lion. He was proud to see Karus had wounded him but realized the pride was premature very quickly. As the lion lunged for Tuk, Chinook buried his head in Tuk's chest, holding out a hoof for Calusa.
"T-t-tuk! L-l-look out!"

Vakasa snarled before raising himself up on his hind legs as he studied the woman who had dared try to intervene in his fight with the younger boy. Orange eyes flicked between Mulan and Wilbur as the ape let out an angry snort before dropping back to all fours and charging at Mulan.
"Out of my way!" he huffed, swinging an arm at her legs, hoping to knock her feet out from underneath her. Vakasa hardly cared about the sword she was holding.

Mulan's grip of her weapon tightened as the ape charged at her, apparently unaware of the fact that she was ideally positioned to skewer him mid-charge. Though the Chinese woman knew better than to expect victory to come so easily, she nonetheless raised her sword, hoping that maybe she had enough luck that the gorilla would impale himself on the sharpened blade before reaching her. Unfortunately, however, luck wasn't on her side right then.
The next thing Mulan knew was that she was lying flat on her back, and her sword was no longer in her hand. Her first, slightly dazed thought was that she should have been more prepared for a move like that after Yao had caught her out similarly in her first training session in an army; her second, that she was incredibly vulnerable lying there. Rolling onto her front, the girl pushed herself to her hands and knees, scrabbling for her sword as she did. The gorilla might press the attack on her while she was down, or continue after Wilbur; neither of which was an appealing prospect. A moment later, her hand found her sword, and Mulan siezed it and scrambled back into a crouch, holding the weapon ready to either block or counter-attack, depending on where she found Vakasa.

Tuk sighed when Chinook outright ignored his questions and instead turned to his sister wondering why Karus ran off. Tuk wanted to make a remark saying that it was because the younger buck was stupid or a coward, sadly he knew neither were true and that in truth Karus hadn't seen which way he'd run off to.
Turning his sunset eyes to the twins he flicked his ears a Calusa to show he was glad she was there, if the lion turned on them he'd need someone to get Chinook out of there if he couldn't do so. Sadly it seemed his assumption soon became all too true.
The large old lion lunged straight for him, he felt Chinook bury his head in his chest. He had only a second to react so he, unintenionally forcefully, shoved the smaller buck out of the way as the lions claws dug deep into his shoulders. Tuk grinded his teeth against the pain but before the lion's fangs had a change to hit their aimed mark Tuk used all of his strength to rear up and lash out at the lion's face with his hooves. Hoping to driving him off and away from him.

Vakasa let out a chuff once he succeeded in knocking the women aside, eying her for a moment before swiftly turning and charging at Wilbur. "I told you to stay out of the way and now you see what happened," he grunted back at Mulan as he continued his advance towards the coal-haired boy. Once the gorilla was close enough, he raised his arms, intending to smash the boy underneath him. If the boy were to dodge, he would then lunge forward and attempt a bite.

"There is a reason why deer should fear dogs" Danny had suddenly appeared behind Calusa his brown eyes gleaming with hunger fallowing a low deep grumble of a growl in his throat. "Your battle is gonna be with me!" with out another word the huge great dane leaps for the does throat he had to prove to the others he could do this, after all what could a doe to do him?

And turning your back on an enemy, other than to run for your life, is a very stupid idea.
Either the gorilla was goading her on purpose, or he didn't think she was a threat right now, Mulan thought as she regained her feet to find it once again baring down on Wilbur. And if she'd had to bet, the Chinese woman thought it was probably the latter. She had been downed, but was by no means out of the fight, and she intended to teach the gorilla the error of such an assumption.
Gripping her sword tightly, Mulan sprinted after Vakasa. As the ape raised his arms in preparation for an attack on Wilbur, Mulan siezed her opportunity to strike while the creature was preoccupied. She swung her blade, bringing it up towards his right arm, intending to sever it cleanly at the elbow before his attack could be completed.

Again, the old lion felt his claws find their mark. He could almost taste the thick life blood running through the deer's neck, but before his fangs found their mark, the deer reared up, leaving his jaws to snap shut on nothing. His forelegs stretched as the deer lashed out with its hooves, aiming at his face. He winced as one flailing hoof caught him just above his eye, and jerked back, barely feeling it when the other hoof impacted on his forehead. Claws wrenched free as he took a step back, shaking his head, making sure his eye was still working.
"You've got a lot of fight in you, but I've killed beasts far more fearsome," he said, relieved to find is eye was still in good condition. It'd have one nasty bruise before long, but he could deal with that. Gathering himself to renew the fight, he lunged forward, jaws opened wide, aiming for one of the deer's slender legs. If he caught it, he'd snap the buck's leg like a twig.

Wilbur was relieved that Mulan was there to help. He seemed to be a bit more confused, when the gorilla continued after him. No doubt it was because he was just a kid. a weak link right. He tightened his grip on the sword in hand, and swung at Vaksa. Hoping to at least make a scratch on the big beast. he wished that he had trained more with Ling on this kind of thing. Instead of fooling around with gadgets.

Vakasa's orange eyes flashed as he felt the bite of Mulan's blade slicing into his thick forearm, muscles catching most of the impact, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt like hell. "You little shi-" Wilbur's blade cut off his curse as it ripped across his cheek, leaving a thin line of blood in its wake. The large silver-back stumbled backwards, his wounded arm held up against his chest to save it from any more damage.
