Here Comes the Sun

John? What is it what's-" Sarah's voice died off as she realized the sun has finally made its long awaited return. She beamed, this was just as wonderful as Jim's recovery. For weeks she had been worried sick over her son's fate, even now with his missing leg. Exiting her tent Sarah slowly followed after the old ursid to check on her son.

The great commotion about the sun coming back was more than enough to rouse Dug. He had been sleeping, as dogs were inclined to do, when the noise reached him. The pudgy canine leaped to his paws immediately and bounded out of the tent he'd been occupying, only to be greeted by the sudden blinding light of the sun. Dug was honestly not prepared for that. When his eyes finally adjusted, though, the pudgy dog started to bark in excitement. His collar would be clarifying what he was trying to say soon enough, but even without that it was clear to see how happy he was. His tail was wagging at a mile a minute, and his barking was just plain excited. He could feel his heart racing with every passing moment the more excited he got.

"The sun! The sun has returned! We will no longer be stuck in the darkness! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!" Dug exclaimed. He started to run around in circles, not really joining anyone in the process, and continued to vocalize his excitement. This was wonderful as far as he was concerned. He didn't understand the how and why of it all, but who cared? All Dug was concerned about was no longer being stuck in the dark and having no idea of what to do.

"Crescent! Crescent, are you here? The darkness is gone! It is a good day to be a dog. It is!" Dug barked. He didn't even know if Crescent was around to hear him, but he also didn't care. She was his good friend, and that was what mattered above all else to him.
