Pepper, I think the training takes place after Lady's train training. I would think both Pepper and Tripod made it back from the train and to the training session.

I always thought all the pups were cadets. Then again, Mall Pups is one of the episodes I didn't watch so I could be wrong. I think he might have been referred to as a cadet in An Officer and a Gentledog. Not entirely certain of that, though. I'm just going off of what I remember.

The confusing thing is that, just a couple of lines later, Pug refers to Tripod as 'the highest-ranking cadet', making him somehow a captain and cadet at the same time. I'll let you make what you will of that XD
