can someone explain to me what a canon character is?

It means a character who was in one of the films, i.e. not a fan-created character, or one from a spinoff book, comic, video game, etc.

This may sound odd, but can someone tell me what time this post says it was made at? Because I get the feeling that everyone's in a different time zone to me, and I'm trying to work out how far ahead or behind I am. Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I'm just trying to figure this out.

There is an option to change the time zone at the bottom of the 'modify profile' screen. It could be that you still have that on the default setting on your profile, as I've changed it to my time, and it says the right times for me.

Just wondering, at the current point, do the heroes know about the villain civil war, or not yet?

Me and Stitch were discussing this earlier. I think we decided (by that I mean I gave forth a hypothesis and she didn't disagree) that the higher ups in all armies suspect the civil war is on the horizon, with the Heroes suspecting it highly and the Villain higher-ups (Jafar, Scar, Frollo, Shere Khan) being the only ones who truly KNOW, for a fact, it is going to happen.

Unless a lower-ranked hero character is practically savvy, they probably has no clue at all and even if he does suspect, it is only the vaguest inkling that the two camps don't like each other. Villain characters don't know there is any official plans, but they can certainly have their own bias and even be in support of Civil War.
