New Arc

Ok, Stitch and I talked this over, and we agreed on a new arc for November. A plague.

Now, some of you may be thinking 'Hey, didn't we already do this?'. Yes and no. Our first arc was centered around a plague, but it was a made-up disease that only claimed a few lives. It was a lot of fun, but I think it needed more detail. So this time, the plague will be closely based on the bubonic plague/black death. Meaning, there will be more deaths, more violence, and more consequences in general.

For those of you concerned about repetition, keep in mind that the war consists of hundreds, if not thousands of participants, in small areas. Naturally, disease will spread because some areas are ridiculously overpopulated.

Here's some things to know regarding the new arc ~

• The plague circulates through small rodents and their fleas. Ratatouille rats can be used to convey this if anyone's willing to claim one. Otherwise, the rats will be NPCs.
  
  
• Without treatment, the plague kills about two thirds of infected humans within four days a week or two.
  
  
• Symptoms include gangrene (rotting skin/dead tissue), chills, fever, seizures, painful lymph gland swellings, heavy breathing, vomiting of blood, fatigue, lenticulae (black dots scattered across body), delirium, and coma.
  
  
• Treatment includes antibiotics. In DWOW's case, the availability of treatment depends on the technology of each army. The Animal Villains will not have access to the cure, the Heroes will not have access to the cure, and the Human Villians, though technologically advanced, will have to develop the antibiotics (preferably not until the middle of the month). Since the Heroes and Animal Villains are incapable of developing a cure on their own, they will have to steal from the Human Villains.
  
  
• There will be food shortages. Because of this, the leaders of each army will start rationing what little food they have left fairly or unfairly. The soldiers' conditions will worsen, and some may start protesting...

So basically, those who we choose to suffer from the plague are pretty much doomed to die unless they're HVs? Eh, I'd rather keep all my characters alive right now...

Besides, I'd be a bit too squeamish to RP out an plague like this, anyway ^^;;;;

Um, no. You don't have to kill off anyone. I mean, yeah, I would like to see some characters die this time around, but you don't have to kill anyone off if you don't want to. Frankly, it's not all about the sickness. It's all about promoting paranoia within each army, and violence between the other armies.

The only reason the HVs get to develop the cure is because it's been implied they're technologically advanced. However, if that's an issue, then the Heroes can develop the cure instead. It's doesn't matter which army does it, as long as it's executed realistically and not done immediately.

You don't have to go into much detail about the plague if you don't want to. But I can't force you to participate.

No offences but this still seem to be a bit repetition and relies way too much on people allowing a certain number of characters to die. Also I'm not sure how a plague is going promoting paranoia when it is a natural force beyond any ones control.


But then again I might just talking out of my ass and I can't really do anything about this anyway. So go head.

Yeah, but I'd still have to be involved in threads where everyone else likely would be going into more detail than I'd be comfortable handling... I dunno.

I don't even know which of my characters I'd involve if I did. I mean, the ones most likely to catch it (e.g. Cody, Annette) are the ones who I'm just too fond of to even *want* to make them suffer quite this much -_-""

Like I said, it's their choice. I did say I would like more characters to be killed off this time around, but it's not a necessity. If no one ends up dying, then oh well. It's out of my control. However, we still have the economic consequences and the finger-pointing to focus on, which wasn't portrayed at all in the last plague. That's the whole reason why we're redoing it. It's not all about how many people die. I mean, DWOW is centered around a three-way war, so it goes without saying people already die on a regular basis.

Honestly, while I would like for you to give this a chance, I can't force you to participate. If the majority of the other members don't want to participate either, then we'll have no choice but to scrap this and hopefully come with something better.

I disagree that it's repetitive but we can scrap the idea like Nasira said. We thought it'd be a good idea due to the historical accuracy of the arc plus how much potential there was for chaos due to the issues caused.

But if people would prefer I can scrap this and move on.

Deadly as this plague will be, just the mere possibility that someone is infected will be enough to make people paranoid. Especially after the last one. Not to mention the desperate fights to get the cure for the Heroes, and Animal Villains, and the determination the Human Villains will likely show to keep it from them.

kinda like the idea to do another plague. The last time we had a plague it sort of fizzled and died while searching for the cure. not sure who i want to infect this time so i'll think about it.

but why are the hvs supposedly technologically advanced over the heroes? Both armies have members from different times and stuff. I mean the heroes have wilbur, stitch, the experiments, jim, silver, dr. dopplar, etc. i'd think they'd be able to make a cure easily enough but maybe that's just me.
