((July 6th. A open hero thread, to get Maid Marian more familiar with more heroes, especially any younger heroes. But any hero may come in.))
Maid Marian was stitching up Robin Hood's shoes to make sure they wouldn't fall apart during any of his battles. She was sitting on a rock in the middle of the Prideland. She sighed and looked around. "It gets quite lonely. I do hope everyone's all right." She bit the string to cut it. "But this is war. I shouldn't be surprised.
She took a deep breath as she stood up, pocketing the shoes. She wasn't quite sure where to go. She hadn't been of much help, since she arrived, and it was really getting to her. "If only I could have a little company. Just a peaceful talk to calm my nerves. This is all so... disorienting."

"D'uh oh!"
Crescent slide in the dirt towards the femme, eyes wide and a wide grin on her maw. She was COVERED from head to toe in mud. She'd been playing by herself in the mud chasing African toads. Bigger than regular froggies, they were much more fun. She'd seen the fox lady and was mesmerized.
Plopping her rear on the ground she wagged her tail and looked up at Maid Marian. Tilting her head to the side the femme turned her doofy grin upward.
"Hiya," she said, "Whatcha doin' fox lady? My name's Crescent. How come you gots clothes on?"

Cadpig walked up, And sat down beside Crescent. "Hi, Crescent" Cadpig said with a wide smile and a wag of her tail. And then she looked over at Maid Marian. "Hi, there my name's Cadpig what's your name? " Cadpig asked Marian happily. " Say you're one of Robin Hood's friends aren't you"? Cadpig said she had met Robin Hood, and seeing as this fox looked more like a woman version of Robin Hood, wore clothes, walked on 2 legs, etc. She made the most logical guess she could.

Maid Marian curtsied politely, both puppies having introduced themselves. "Hello, I'm Maid Marian," she introduced herself. She folded her hands. "Well, I'm actually Robin's wife. I've been here for a couple days for him. You see, I did get ever so lonely, when he left." She took a deep breath and sighed. "I didn't want to lose him again, you see."
Then there was the other puppies question. She understood that not all animals more clothes around here. It did seem quite strange still, but she was getting used to it. How did she explain why she wore clothes, though? She cleared her throat. "Well, it's just what tradition dictates where I come from, Crescent. I'm somewhat of a noblewoman, so it's only proper that I dress appropriately.

Post by Kerchak on Mar 29, 2012 19:46:11 GMT -5
The ground pulses gently, as a soft booming reverberated off the earth from his steps. The steps of a massive ape, with black fur, bulky limbs and calculating eyes. He didn't exactly look friendly; a steady frown, brow lowered into a deep scowl. He became more attentively aware of those in the area, the closer he approached. Kerchak caught the last few sentences the female fox adorn in clothing, and gave a small shake of his head and a sigh.
"This is the army...?" he asked, his deep voice booming. An attention grabber fit for a gorilla of his size. Towering over them, casting a wide shadow he'd deem to be pretty intimidating.

"A noble woman?" She said slowly, sounding out the words with her tongue as if she was tasting them. Mud drenched pup stared up at the fox and smiled doofilly. Tail wagged. "I thought you was a fox!" She giggled and lowered the from half of her body in a playful bow. Then she sat up. "I wus gonna play with you. But I dun' wanna get mud on yer clothes. They're so pretty. Anita hates it when I get mud on her clothes. D'ya think I could wear clothes?"
Her speech was stopped by the large ape. The ground boomed with his arrival. She opened her maw and gasped. "That's a biiiiiiig human," she said, "Why you covered in hair, mister?" Too dull to really be intimidated, the dimwitted dalmatian rubbed against the gorilla's forearm. "Hehehehe, yer soft!"

Kerchak snorted, withdrawing his hand from the pup, staring down at him with a hard gaze. His nose was wrinkled as he examined the child, persisting with a long stare before planting his hand back down on it's knuckled. Kerchak rolled his eyes, huffing he merely shook it off, accepting the pup's dim 'affection'. It'd been so long since he'd had any sort of contact with creatures besides humans... and now this pup seemed to think he was one.
"I am no a human, little one." he snorted. A gruff voice reverberated down to the dalmatians small figure, a dark shadow cast on her.

Maid Marian was quite charmed by the young pup. She seemed so playful. As the gorilla approached, though, she found that she was accosted a bit. She stood up and curtsied politely. "Beg pardon, sir, but we are more of the army's support. You see, my husband, a fine archer, is a soldier here." She swallowed slightly under his presence. He reminded her much of the sheriff of Nottingham, only meaner.
As the lion approached, she gave him a quick dip as well. "Good morrow, my good lion. I'm Maid Marian." She turned back to the gorilla and gestured to the tawny newcomer. "That is one of our soldiers, more than likely. I do hope he seems adequate to you."

Post by Kerchak on Mar 30, 2012 16:39:24 GMT -5
Kerchak gave each a long stare, unsure how to respond to Maid Marian exactly. He hadn't seen anything quite like her. She was an animal.. of which breed he was unable to place, she resembled nothing in the jungle that he'd seen... but she was on two legs and acted much like a human. Peculiar, though he didn't give her a darker scowl than he'd given to the rest of them.
"Kerchak." he rumbled, "My name is Kerchak." he replied to the lion.
A short glance was given to Maid Marian, followed by, "Yes... I suppose he is..." in a detached tone. To be perfectly honest, the lion unnerved him. He looked at Mega, and saw a feline... a large feline, more well built and equally if not more threatening than his own Sabor, of his home. Sabor... he released a gruff snort, and cast a dark suspicious glance at the tawny lion.
"If these are only the war's supporters," he spared a glance down at the dalmatian puppy, and Marian, "Then where is the heart of this army?" he demanded. Authority rang in his vocals, and he was most certainly backed up by his massive frame. A silver-back gorilla's presence was difficult to ignore.

"Crescent! Oh, dear, just look at you."
Perdita had only caught a brief glimpse of Crescent darting around the Pridelands, but it had been impossible to miss the fact that the little pup was a muddy mess. There she was conversing with a fox that looked similar to Vixey, a lion Perdita wasn't familiar with, Cadpig, and... well, Perdita didn't quite know what to make of the last individual that was present at that moment. All she knew was that he looked relatively like an animal, but at the same time he was almost like a human. Almost. Slender female padded toward the group, doing her best to resist the urge she felt to just shake her head at Crescent's shenanigans, before coming to a stop near them.
"You're absolutely covered in mud! It's a wonder you haven't gotten it all over everyone in here." Perdita chided. Her tone didn't indicate that she was overly upset, though. If anything, she was more amazed that one of her pups would enjoy getting themselves dirty to such a degree. Patches was similar in that regard, but still. It was a sight to behold. "You really should get yourself cleaned up at some point, Crescent. I do apologize if she's caused you any problems." Perdita said. She mainly seemed to be addressing Kerchak, as he was the one that Crescent appeared to be closest to at that given moment.

"Hehe. Hi Mom!"
Crescent shook herself, flinging mud in places. She looked up at Kerchek and wagged her tail. "Mom! Do ya see? There's a human covered in fur like an animal! And this fox lady walks on two legs! She's nice but the animal-man is a grumpy puss. He's looking for the leader of the army! Mr. Simba's still in his cave. He's always there isn't he Mommy? He's a lion like this guy here but he's bigger! Do you know what a lion is, Mr. Grumpy animal man?"
Crescent stood on her head. "I was playing in the mud, Mommy! It was fun!"

Post by Jane Porter on Mar 31, 2012 15:57:21 GMT -5
Jane returned to the camp and noticed the little growing crowd. She had been a bit farther off away from most everyone else, sketching the savannah to pass the time. Eventually, she grew bored of it and decided to return to see what everyone else was up to. She'd yet to run into any familiar faces, but she figured it was only a matter of time.
She made her way over to the growing crowd of nothing but animals, and one human-fox thing that she'd never seen before. Marian rather fascinated her, but she'd find time to find out more about her later. She came up just in time to here Crescent's ramblings and smiled slightly. She thought it was rather charming. It reminded her of herself when she was much younger, and much to questioning for her own good. Finally she greeted everyone. "Hello everyone." She said with a slight wave. "I'm Jane."
Eventually she finally noticed the massive ape and froze a bit. Not out of fear, heavens no, she'd gotten used to them. However, he looked like the gorilla that Clayton had shot that fateful day. She'd never gotten properly introduced with Kerchak, but Tarzan had told her plenty of stories of him. It couldn't be him could it? She'd watched him get shot, she'd sen Tarzan's final moments with his "father". It just wasn't possible. However, her gaze did linger on Kerchak a bit, wondering if it actually was.

[Hope it's ok if I bring Mirage into this thread as a kind of introduction. I recently did an intro for Scat Cat, and I don't want it to be too same-ish...so yeah. ^^']
Mirage had entered the Pride Lands with caution - she didn't know who she was going to meet, nor how she would be greeted. She didn't trust as easily nowadays, and the prospect of meeting new people set the blonde on edge. She walked for a while until she came across a group of people - well, people and animals - and slowed her pace as she neared them. She remained a few metres away from the group, observing them carefully.
They seemed to be amiable sorts of people...but she took a few paces back when she saw a lion and a gorilla. Two powerful, and potentially wild and dangerous beasts! She wasn't sure she liked that. And yet, the two bigger creatures weren't causing any harm to the crowd around them...just talking. Part of her wanted to trust her instincts, to talk to them, and yet her logical side stopped her. There could be a threat, it whispered to her. You don't know who you can trust.

Post by Lady Kluck on Mar 31, 2012 17:10:15 GMT -5
Lady Kluck was making her way through the heroes camp when voices caught her ear. Out of curiousity she headed in the direction of the voices and soon she spotted a small group that, with the exception of two humans(one in group and another that was near it), was made up entirely of animals. But what really surprised her was the appearance of Maid Marian. Lady Kluck was relived to know that her friend was alive and well. but the hen's gaze lingered on the large ape.
"All right, what in King Richard's name is going on here" She said as she approached.
